If you like to shoot in the wind, you would have loved last Sat. VERY WINDY. Count was down a little, but we still had 20 shooters. We has a couple of new shooters again this month and want them to be sure and join us again. Get ready guys, the weather is warming up and we will be having some awesome matches. Come join us on May 14. Check out the scores on Match scores. Several of our regular shooters will not be here next month, because they will be shooting in the Serria Cup F-Class in St. Louis. Hope to see every one else.
The weather was good and we had a great turnout. We had some more new shooters and if all the old and new shooters show up at once, I am running away from home!
No perfect 300 scores this time, but lots of great shooting. We liked 7 shooters having 2 complete relays. F-Class is really growing. We had another lady first time shooter and it looks like we may have several more.
A meal of Brats and beans was provided by Chef Andrew. Come join the fun on Sat. April 2, 2016. Check out the scores on Match Scores. Hope to see you then.
The weather turned out to be an OK day. The first relay we had more 150’s shot than ever in a match. We had two perfect 300 scores. Conditions were good and so were the shooters. Everyone had a good time and if you didn’t make it, you missed a good shoot. Hope to see you next month, March 5. Scores posted on match scores. Check them out.
Hello all you F-Class shooters. Our match last Sat. Jan. 2, 2016 was quiet successful considering the cold temps. and wind. The sun came out and it was not a bad day. Want to thank the first timers and all the regulars for coming out to make a good match. The high water kept some folks away.
Hope to see everyone Feb. 6, for our next match. Scores posed on Match scores.
… We have a young man, Jackson Gidcomb, 7 years old, from Salem, Mo. shooting tactical prone that is fearless. He is shooting (first time) a Desert Tech. 300 Win. mag. What a boy. We had a large crowd of 34 shooters at start time of 26 deg., but warmed up for a nice day. Come join the fun. Scores are posted on Match scores. See you Sat. Jan 2., weather permitting
Big Piney Sportsman’s Club was home the International Bench rest Shooters 600 Yard Missouri State Championship. The match was held over the weekend June 27-28. The shooters form across the Midwest including 4 states began rolling in on Friday sighting in and socializing.
The Missouri state championship is a 2 day event and figured on 16 targets total (8 Light gun and 8 Heavy Gun) We had a total of 21 shooters that shot both days braving the conditions.
Saturday started out mild wind and low mirage. It did not take long for the infamous Big Piney mirage to open up groups and lowering scores. At the end of the day Ryan Hunt came out on top with an overall win in light gun and heavy gun. On his heels were Justin Roberson and Donnie Greer. Justin won Light gun score with a 194 and Donnie Greer shooting amazingly consistently throughout the day. Junior champ went to Rory Jacobs for the day with Jaden Brotherton in sight. Justin Roberson and Hippie both shooting groups under 1 inch in the light gun it was going to come down to the wire.
Sunday started out in normal fashion with lots of discussion and strategy for the days coming events. Andy Ferguson comes out swing sweeping Light gun winning group agg. and score. Lanny Branch was shooting great to with a 2.012 group agg. Heavy gun was won by David Ferguson( I guess it does run in the family). Andy hung on for the 2 gun win on Sunday. Jaden Brotherton snunk up on everyone finishing strong and sweeping the junior shooters.
After all the smoke cleared it was to the computer for the State results.
Left to right: Robert Vinyard, Collin Murphy, Dave Glick, Mike Butts, Jim Kowski, Jaden Brotherton, A.J. Branstetter, Danny Wake, Rich Elijah, Don Rabun, Don Steelman, Steve Dlack.
Even though it was 35 deg, with snow still on the ground we had 22 shooters turn out. We had a couple of new shooters and a new junior shooter from down in the boot heel. Hope to see every one on April 4. Congratulations to all the above winners. A good time was had by all especially the pulled pork lunch prepared by Bob Roach.
